Shaken, but Not Stirred

Life has a way of throwing curveballs when you least expect them. Over the past few months, I've faced some personal challenges and unexpected emergencies that forced me to step back from the day-to-day work of Alegria: Palenque Preservation Project. There were moments when I questioned everything – my capacity, my timing, even whether I was the right person to champion this cause. But here's what I've learned during this difficult period: sometimes, stepping back doesn't mean giving up. Sometimes, it means gathering the strength to move forward with even greater purpose.
I'm writing today to let you know that I'm still here, and more importantly, so is our mission. While I may have been shaken by life's unexpected turns, my commitment to supporting San Basilio de Palenque remains absolutely unshakeable. The work continues, and our fundraising efforts are very much alive, particularly for our most urgent project – the renovation of the Casa Museo cultural heritage museum. This isn't just a building we're working to restore; it's a living testament to the incredible history and resilience of the Palenquero people. Just as they have persevered through centuries of challenges, so too will we persevere in our efforts to preserve their legacy. Thank you for your patience, your continued support, and for believing in this mission even when I struggled to believe in myself.
Sinceramente,
Erin
